Simeon Yolkin is a master luthier crafting classical and flamenco guitars in the city of Zlatoust.
His journey in guitar making began in 2012. Simeon initially forged his path through self-study (using books, internet resources, etc.), but later pursued formal training in Granada, Spain, under the guidance of master luthier Pavel Gavryushov.
In his work, the master bases his development on the traditional Spanish school of guitar making.
Over the years, he has crafted numerous replicas of classical and flamenco guitars by such renowned masters as: Antonio de Torres, José Romanillos, Santos Hernandez, Marcelo Barbero, Manuel Reyes, Manuel Rodriguez, and others.
Currently, his primary construction model is based on the more contemporary ideas of the great French master Daniel Friederich.
Also, he is actively developing and implementing a range of modern design concepts and solutions, including innovative and original ones.
A separate and crucial aspect of the master's work, and a field for exploration, is guitar design and woodworking. He designs and crafts the rosettes and inlays for his guitars by himself. All the guitars are varnished exclusively with French polish. The master usually creates around 8 guitars a year.
Simeon is deeply convinced that the instrument's aesthetics and unique signature-like style are just as important as perfecting its acoustic qualities.
Simeon Yolkin's guitars are sold and highly regarded both in Russia and internationally. His instruments have been sold in world-renowned guitar salons: Siccas Guitars (Germany) and Die Gitarre (Switzerland).
Prominent Russian guitarists who play his instruments include musicians such as: Kuzma Filimonov and Mikhail Rakin (Novosibirsk), Dmitry Murin (Moscow), Alexey Starodubtsev (Moscow), Ilya Filyukov (St. Petersburg), and others.

  • "SIBERIA NUEVA" DUO
Novosibirsk. "SIBERIA NUEVA" is a guitar duo founded in 2007.
Mikhail Rakin and Kuzma Filimonov are laureates of Russian and international competitions, medalists of the Delphic Games. Their ensemble teamwork is the result of many years of friendship, creative experiments and many performances.
The musicians continue the tradition of Yuri Kuzin's Novosibirsk Guitar School, known for its vibrant sound, virtuosity and expressive delivery. In addition to their active concert activities, Kuzma and Mikhail teach classical guitar and participate in organizing major competitive and educational projects.
The name "SIBERIA NUEVA" ("New Siberia") emphasizes the connection with his native Novosibirsk and reflects the desire of musicians to popularize the Siberian guitar school.
The duo's repertoire covers music from the Baroque to the avant-garde: original works and vivid arrangements. In 2021, the ensemble won the first prize at the S. D. Orekhov Competition (Kazan), won the III All-Russian Music Competition, and became a laureate of the Guitar Foundation of America and the Southern Guitar Festival & Competition (USA).
Each performance by SIBERIA NUEVA is a combination of intellectual depth, emotional strength and virtuoso skill.
“Siberia Nueva is the best guitar duo in Russia!” N. Koshkin is a composer and guitarist.
The duo's opinion: Simeon Yolkin realized an ambitious task for us — he created "twin guitars", ideal for a duet ensemble. We chose a combination of wood — Ziricote and Alpine spruce of the highest quality — and expressed our wishes for decorating the tools. The sound of the instruments allows us to play any kind of music, from vintage to modern. The balance is adjusted very comfortably, and the readability and clarity of the sound are pleasing at every concert. Guitars are sensitive to the nuances of playing and inspire us to interact musically.
  • Dmitriy Murin
Moscow. Musician, guitarist, opera singer and conductor. Laureate of international competitions, Associate Professor at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
Dmitry's opinion: Simeon's guitars are world-class instruments in which every minute detail is thought out. Each instrument has its own unique voice and vibrant timbre. You start enjoying yourself from the very first sounds. These are the guitars you want to play!
  • Alexey Starodubtsev
Moscow. Alexey Starodubtsev is known in Russia and abroad as a flamenco artist, guitarist, music producer, composer of musical performances and ballets, author of flamenco, ethnic and pop music, and the only pianist in Russia performing original flamenco music. Among his compositional achievements are the music for the flamenco performance by Sarah Cano "Mujer de pie", which was presented as part of the XXVI Festival de Jerez (Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, 2022), the triptych "Los Monstrous de Picasso", written for the dancer Eva Manzano.
Alexey's opinion: Flamenco guitars are a huge rarity on the Russian market. Understanding its features, sound, and tasks is a lot of work that not every master can do.
Simeon created several flamenco guitars that I had the opportunity to play. We evaluated all these guitars and analyzed their features in order to create a truly high-end instrument, which I play now.
The guitar is very responsive, thin, comfortable, with a matte, cedar "top".
I wish the master to continue his journey in this direction!
  • Ilya Filyukov
Saint Petersburg. multigenre guitarist, music and guitar teacher, winner of international competitions, founder of the El Maestro guitar school. He is the author of numerous concert and musical programs for solo and ensemble guitar, covering musical styles from medieval music to the avant-garde. In his work, he relies on the principles of accessibility of musical art to the general public and popularization of the guitar as an instrument of a wide range of possibilities.
The author of a unique, pedagogical guitar training program for children and adults, based on many years of experience in teaching and performing practice.
Ilya's opinion: Back in 2019, I was looking for an author's instrument, but I just wasn't interested in the guitar, I was looking for a SPECIAL instrument.
I've talked to many masters, tried different guitars, but it's not the same.…
I saw Simeon's guitars in VK, wrote, we talked, I got answers to all my questions. Semyon sent me photos of some of his guitars, and one of them was the Elegida (Spanish: Chosen), the name of the author. It was love at first sight: stunning shapes, a gorgeous fir tree, a magnificent zirikot, in general, it sounded in my head: "IT". Simeon and I agreed and I began to wait, 3 days of painful waiting and the guitar in my hands, from the very first sound I realized - it's forever! A great guitar by all accounts, it's been my main instrument for 6 years now, and it gives me pleasure to play it every time.
By the way, in the future, they also ordered guitars from Simeon for their students, which are only getting better and the attitude towards customers is exceptional and careful.
My verdict: Simeon Yolkin is the best guitar master in Russia, Simeon's guitars are the legacy of Russian guitar making.
  • Michael Rakin
    Novosibirsk
  • Kuzma Filimonov
Novosibirsk. Kuzma Filimonov is a Russian guitar virtuoso, winner of international and national competitions. Teacher of the highest category, Senior lecturer at the Novosibirsk State Conservatory. Glinka.
Being a graduate of the legendary Russian teacher, Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation Yuri Kuzin, and having also received the secrets of mastery from the hands of Professor Vladimir Nikolaevich Mityakov of the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory, Kuzma is the successor of perhaps the best guitar schools in our country - Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novgorod. He conducts extensive concert activities, as well as extensive work as a member of the jury of various competitions. Participates in the organization of the largest Y. Kuzin international classical guitar competition outside the Urals, and directs specialized creative schools.
Kuzma has extensive teaching experience. In addition to the Novosibirsk Conservatory, he teaches at the A.F. Murov College of Music, as well as at the Novosibirsk Special Music School (ten years old), where he educates young laureates, as well as conducts lectures and master classes in various cities of Russia and abroad.
In addition to his solo performing career, Kuzma plays in the duo SIBERIA NUEVA, one of the most striking and distinctive ensembles in the world of modern guitar. In the spring of 2021, the duo of Mikhail Rakin and Kuzma Filimonov won the prestigious first prize at the V International Competition named after S.D. Orekhov in Kazan. And in the fall of 2021, he won a resounding victory at the III All-Russian Music Competition in the nomination "Ensembles of Russian folk Instruments". The Russian guitar duo SIBERIA NUEVA is the winner of the Southern Guitar Festival & Competition (USA, 2021) and the winner of the second prize of the Guitar Foundation of America (Guitar Association of America - GFA, 2021), one of the largest guitar competitions in the world.
Kuzma's opinion: I admire the magnificent carpentry and the sense of style with which Simeon's tools are decorated. His guitars sound bright, noble and even in all registers. It impresses with the widest dynamic range and phenomenal singability. I especially appreciate the timbral mobility: the instrument does not impose a "ready-made" sound, but responds sensitively to my touch.
It is also important that Simeon is attentive to the musician's wishes, not trying to dictate how "the guitar should sound." Our chance meeting in 2019 became an important page in my artistic history. I am sure that I will order more than one instrument from him, both for myself and for my students.
  • Peter Guenther
Germany. Waldalgesheim. Musician, classical and flamenco guitarist, performer, teacher. The guitarist in "Duo ¡Jacaras!".
Peter's opinion: I am the proud owner of the guitar "La Inspirada", made in memory of Jose Romanillos in 2020. I bought this instrument at Siccas Guitars in Karlsruhe and immediately fell in love with it!
This guitar is the best guitar I've ever had!
I only play this guitar at concerts because it sounds great, loud and suitable for any music. Simeon's guitar is very good, and she has already played many concerts with me. A phenomenal instrument that sounds loud and voluminous, like a double-topped guitar, but at the same time much more subtle and differentiated in all registers! Perfect for classical music and flamenco!
I vividly remember one event, I played this instrument the other day in Liechtenstein, and everyone was delighted with the instrument "La Inspirada", among others there were David Russell, Manolo Frank, Alvaro Pierre, Enrique Madrigera, Stefan Hackl, Dieter Kreidler.
Thanks again to the master for the wonderful guitar!

Igor's opinion: elegance, quality of performance, premium materials, excellent sustain, rich flavor, excellent sound balance - this is all that a professional musician needs to fully convey the inner state and the most secret meanings of a particular work. And it's all about Simeon Yolkin's guitars. These qualities, combined with a delicate approach to each stage of guitar making, give a truly professional, meaningful instrument.
